MRS. SARAH A. SLANE DIED IN MILWAUKEE

Mrs. Sarah Henry Slane, aged, 98, pioneer resident of this vicinity, died Sunday at her home of her daughter Mrs. E. A. Perkins at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Death resulted from the infirmities of old age.

Sarah Henry, daughter of Col Jas Henry and Fannie McMaster Henry was born in Crawford county, Penn. On April 1, 1825 and died in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 1, 1923, aged 98 years and three months.

She came with her parents to Princeville in 1850. On January 8, 1853, she was married to Benjamin F. Slane. The family later moved to Wyoming, where they lived for a period of more than 28 years. Her husband died there in 1895 and one daughter, Ida, passed away two years later.

After the marriage of her daughter Mina at Wyoming, to E. A. Perkins and their subsequent removal to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. Slane accompanied them and there spent the declining years of her life.

She is survived by three sons, O.B. Slane, Peoria; O. C. Slane, Peoria; and Edgar Slane, Princeville; and two daughters, Mrs. F. C. Ralston, Joplin, Missouri; and Mrs. E. A. Perkins, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Mrs. Slane was the last of a family of twelve children and was beloved throughout the Princeville and Wyoming communities where she spent practically all her life. As a woman of abiding Christian faith, her long life as mother, grandmother and great grandmother was marked by loving service to her family and her friends.

Her father James Henry, was a soldier in the War of 1812 and was colonel of the state militia of Pennsylvania for a number of years. He was a member of the state legislature for several years. Her mother, Fannie McMasters Henry, was of Irish birth and immigrated to this country with her parents as a child.

The body was brought to Princeville where funeral services were held from the Edgar Slane home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev John Acheson in charge of services. Interment took place at the Princeville cemetery.
