Son of Daniel Lewis of Jennings County Indiana. Married to Judilee Stewart of same county, divorced, remarried to Mrs. Rachel Carpenter. Lived in Greenleaf, Washington County, Kansas for most of his life. When very elderly he went to live with his daughter Mrs. Florence Stewart, he was divorced from Rachel but I believe that was for expediency's sake for some reason as they were married for a very long time. Rachel was cared for by her biological son from her first marriage. Eli's body was shipped back here by train, and buried with no stone. His granddaughter Gertrude L. Beattie 1880-1930 is in this cemetery as well, with a stone.
