Florence Diggs was the fifth child and second daughter of James Diggs and Isabel Barrington. She married Hewett Beasley in St. Luke's Protestant Episcopal Church with her younger sister Eveline as 'best girl'. She and Hewett had four children. Katharine who married Howard Shock and had no children, Robert Hewett who married Betty Johnston and had three children, Mary Hewett who married Oral Williams (a widower with several children), and James Ross Beasley who married Eleanor Marsh and had six children. After her husband died, Florence was supported by her mother-in-law so that she did not have to go out and work. She lived with her son Jimmy for several years before she moved in with her son Robert.
