Plainville Times: On Thursday, July 26, a most painful accident happened at the residence of G.B. Putnam Esq., of Paradise township, this county, which resulted fatally to Miss Dora E. Saxton.
Miss Dora was visiting Mrs. Putman, and, in the evening before retiring, attempted to extinguish a hanging library lamp, when the hook by which it was suspended broke, and the lamp was dashed to fragments. The girl was immediately enveloped in flames which Mr. Putnam extinguished with a blanket, but not before fatal injuries had been received. Through the night she lived in agony, in the morning she died; died in anguish, but without fear of death; submitting to and never questioning God's will.
Miss Dora was a beautiful girl about fourteen years of age, and passionately fond of music. Let us hope that the echo of her sweet song of deliverance will soothe the parents' grief, to whom the entire community extend their sympathy in the trial hour.
