Marlene was born on Dec. 20, 1934, in Provo, Utah, to Nathan Hale and Phyllis Watson Hale. She moved to Groveland as a young child with her family.
Marlene married Brice Orley Yancey on Oct. 21, 1955, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and they lived together in Aberdeen for almost 40 years where they raised six children: Gail Yancey Edrington (Cody) of Firth; Scott Brice Yancey (Brenda Gay Anderson) of British Columbia, Canada; Terrell Nathan Yancey (Sandra Diana Sherry Gould) of Aberdeen; Dennis John Yancey (Roxana ) of Miami, Fla.; Neal Adam Yancey (Jana Christensen) of Firth; and Julie Ann Yancey Nealey (Jerry Nealey) of Roy, Utah.
Following the loss of her husband Brice in January 1995, Marlene moved to Firth to be closer to her siblings and daughter. Marlene served three missions for the LDS Church and was currently serving as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple. She also filled her time with humanitarian and service work.
Marlene is survived by her six children, three of her five siblings, David (Rita Rae) Hale of Riverside; Renee ( Pete) Dirkmaat of Shelley; and Annette (Tusi) Taualii of Idaho Falls. Marlene was grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Phyllis, older brother Leon Hale, and Elden Blaine Hale who died shortly after birth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, 2010, at the Firth LDS Chapel, 744 N 600thE., in Firth.
A viewing will be held on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue, Blackfoot and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Firth LDS Chapel.
Interment will be in the Groveland Cemetery.
