Walter Stoner, age 71, of Rolling Prairie R.F.D. 2, and a former Porter county resident, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Family hospital, LaPorte, after an illness of seven months. He was a farmer.

He was born in Willis township, LaPorte county, on Dec. 1, 1869, and lived most of his life in the Rolling Prairie vicinity, with the exception of the time he resided in Porter county.

He was married on March 9, 1896, in Valparaiso, to Clara Whitcomb, of Porter county. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Marvin, of LaPorte and Floyd, of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Wilson, of Mill Creek; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Etta Dudley, of Rolling Prairie, and two brothers, David, of Rolling Prairie, and Vernon, of LaPorte. Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death. Andrew Stoner, who died recently of a heart attack at the Kuehl farm, near Lake Eliza, was a brother.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Sauktown Community church, near Rolling Prairie. Rebv. C.H. Wilson will officiate and burial will be in the Baptist cemetery. The body may be viewed at the home until the funeral.
