My gg grandfather.

From 2001-03 I lived in Great Lakes IL, just 8 miles south of Waukegan where Ira Mix and his family lived. In 2002 I visited Benton-Greenwood Cem. and saw the headstones for Eben Mix, Ira's father, Ira Mix, William E., Charles & Edward D. Mix, Ira's sons, next to one another. Ira's stone is quite crooked and tilted downward. I also visited Petersen Funeral Home where they looked up Ira's record (see below). At that time the cemetery was just known as Greenwood Cem., and it had been first known as Howe Cemetery. Ira's mother, Drusilla (Roberts) Mix, married William Howe after Eben Mix died. I could not find her in the cemetery, or a funeral record for her.

Living in La Porte, IN in the 1830s. Probably moved to Newport Twp, Lake Co, IL in the late 1840s. Per Teresa's pension request she said they farmed in Lake Co. since 1865.
