‎ ‎ ‎ Vernon Lyle Birket, 87, Nampa, died Friday, April 9, 1999, at a care center in Nampa. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the Nampa First Congregational Church, 1007 Central Midland Blvd. Nampa, with the Rev. Paula Martin officiating. After the service, there will be a reception at the church.
‎ ‎ ‎ Mr. Birket was born Dec. 3, 1911, at Abbyville, Kan., to Frank and Sina Rose (Boody) Birket. He was married to Annagrace Callen, Nov. 26, 1938, in Garden City, Kan.
‎ ‎ ‎ Mr. Birket grew up in Arlington, Kan., and worked in a small grocery store while attending high school.
‎ ‎ ‎ After graduating from high school, he moved to Garden City, Kan., where he worked as a mechanic.
‎ ‎ ‎ In 1941, he moved to Hawthorne, Calif., where he worked at Northrup Aircraft. He moved to Nampa in 1945 and worked as a mechanic at the Ford car and tractor dealerships. Mr. Birket was a charter member of the Nampa First Congregational Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent for many years.
‎ ‎ ‎ He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Barbara Fairchild, Mexico, Mo., and Judith Titus, McCall; two sons-in-law, William Fairchild and Gordon Titus; five grandchildren, Andrew Fairchild, Benton City, Mo., Callen Zind, Prairie Village, Kan., Steven Fairchild, Mexico, Mo., Gordon E. Titus, Nampa, and Nathan Titus, Boise; and three great-grandchildren, Adam, Aaron and Anthony Fairchild. Other survivors include two sisters, Frances Paepke, Halstead, Kan., Glennis Godard, Texas City, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
‎ ‎ ‎ He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Scoville, and a sister, Esther Love.
