PIONEER MOTHER PASSES AWAY

Mrs. E. B. [J.] Kesselring, pioneer of Glenn county, known throughout the section to all old timers, passed away last Sunday morning at the home of her daughter in Oakland after an extended illness brought about by old age. Mrs. Kesselring was over ninety at the time of her death.
Mrs. Kesselring was a native of Indiana [Ohio], crossing the plains with her husband and children in the early fifties. They made their home at first at St. John, then a thriving river town. They made Orland their home for many years. Since the death of her husband a score of years ago, Mrs. Kesselring has made her home either in Orland where she owned property, or in Oakland with her daughter.
She is survived by a number of sons and one daughter. E. B. Kesselring, a veteran hotel man and one of the most popular businessmen of Orland, is a son of the late Mrs. Kesselring.
The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon from the Methodist church, Rev. McWilliams officiating. Many old friends, pioneers and daughters and sons of pioneers, new friends of more recent years, gathered to pay their last sacred tribute to the venerable pioneer woman of the Land of Orland. Interment was at Odd Fellows' cemetery.
