He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Hemphill of Thorndike, Mrs. Laila Winship of Unity and Miss Avis Pearl Walton of Portland; two sons, Marshall and Roy Walton both of Unity; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas and Frank, both of Unity; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Reynolds of Unity and Mrs. Annie Argraves of Caribou; and a large number of nieces and nephews. A brother, William, died last summer.
Mr. Walton will be greatly missed, not only by family but by a host of friends to whom he was always glad to extend a helping hand in times of need. Mr. and Mrs. Walton moved to Thorndike from Presque Isle nearly 30 years ago and 15 years ago they bought the place across from the Unity Trotting Park where he has since lived.
Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday, April 10, at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. H. C. Glidden of Benton officiating. There were many beautiful pieces of flowers showing the high regard in which he was held. Two old time hymns, "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Sometime We'll Understand" were sung by Mrs. Lloyd Tozier and daughter Charlotte. The bearers were close friends of the deceased: Marshall Lane, Harry Brown, James Pillsbury and Joseph Farwell all of Unity. Burial was beside his wife in the Pond Cemetery in Unity.
