Mrs. Rickman was buried with her 13-month-old son. Originally they were buried in an unmarked grave. Cemetery records indicated that they were "Mrs. Rickman and child" as that was the only information noted in the original notations. In 2016, the Gillespie Historic Cemetery Project provided a marker for them. Shortly thereafter, a relative found the marker. Bonnie Rickman provided their names and the circumstances of their deaths:

Emma Pope Rickman
(1870-1897)

All corrections/edits submitted by great-granddaughter Bonnie Rickman:

"This information was given to me by my grandfather Otto J. Rickman. He lost his mother and young brother before his 4th birthday. They were tragically injured and died from a campfire accident. Grandpa carried this sorrow with him all his life. We visited her grave once when I was young. I was thrilled to discover her new headstone July 2012 because without it I may have roamed all over that steep hillside and not found her resting place. A big heartfelt thank you to the Historic Cemetery Project and all others involved. Sincerely, Bonnie Rickman"
