Actress. Born in Cuba of Spanish parents, she developed all her career in Spain and the United States. She became one of the leading ladies of Spanish stage at the begginning of the Twentieth Century. In the early 30s, she worked in Hollywood for the Fox Films, appearing in "Spring in Autumn" (1933) and "The Romantic Widow"(1933). She also triumphed in Broadway with "Pygmalión" and "Midnight Summer's Dream." Her works also include "Canción de Cuna" and "Adiós Mimí Pompón". Bárcena was awarded with the Spanish Stage Award in 1972. She have a long extramarital relationship with the writer Gregorio Martínez Sierra. Some sources say she was born in 1891.
