Mrs. Frances Atkinson Dead
"Aunt Fannie" Atkinson died at her home in the south part of town on Monday after a lingering illness, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 11 days.
Frances Wright Atkinson was born in Tow Law, England, June 6, 1847. Was married to Stephen Atkinson October 26, 1872. To this union ten children were born, five dying in infancy and Joseph Wright Atkinson on December 14, 1907, leaving four surviving children: Thomas Atkinson, Mary Ann Lamb, Stephen Atkinson and May Atkinson, together with five grandchildren, all of Cherokee.
The Atkinson family came to Cherokee in 1883, and have taken an active part in affairs since.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Sterling of the Methodist church and burial in the Cherokee cemetery.
Everyone who lived in Cherokee very long knew and loved "Aunt Fannie." She was a member of the Eastern Star lodge
