YAKIMA - Verl William Tilbury, 97, of Naches, WA, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Urbana, Iowa on December 19, 1905 to James Wilson Tilbury and Josephine Brody Tilbury On January 15, 1926 he married Agatha Hamilton Tilbury in Pine River, Minnesota.
Verl worked driving CAT and building roads in Cass County, MN and then owned and operated a sawmill until 1963 when he moved to Seattle, WA to work at Boeing. He retired and moved to Naches, WA and did mechanic work for many years. Verl and his wife enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed duck hunting and killed his last elk at age 90. His greatest joy was being with his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. He was a wonderful Dad to his children.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Elva and Vern Keep of Naches, WA, Iva and Jack Graves of REnton, WA, Eva Keep Dana and Gene Dana of Bellevue, WA, Verl and Virginia Tilbury, Jr. of Grand Marias, MN and Marie Keep of Wilsall, MT; 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Agatha Tilbury of 54 years, October 8, 1979, Georgia Tilbury and Margaret Tilbury; a daughter, Lola Tilbury and husband Theophil Semmler and sons-in-law, Clarence Keep and Howard Keep.
Viewing will begin Friday, 12 noon until 8:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 4, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Naches Church of the Nazarene, c/o Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
