Died, Saturday morning, Dec. 3, 1910, at the Mercy hospital in Chicago, of pneumonia, Legh Kimball Brainerd. The remains arrived in this city this morning and were taken to the residence of Mrs. Palmer and Mrs. Brainerd, 417 East Cook street.

Legh Kimball Brainerd was born and brought up in this city. He was the eldest son of the late Gideon R. Brainerd and Elizabeth Lamb Brainerd. His sudden death comes as a shock and surprise to relatives and friends in this city. He was married about eighteen years ago to Miss Edna J. Shipp of Petoskey who, with one son, Gideon R. Brainerd, survive. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth L. Brainerd, one sister, Mrs. Ella B. Whitlock, wife of Mayor Brand Whitock of Toledo, Ohio, and three brothers, Ben H. Brainerd, James L. Brainerd and Albert W. Brainerd. He is also survived by his aunt, Mrs. John M. Palmer, who has given him the love and devotion of a mother. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 12-4-1910

The funeral of Legh K. Brainerd took place at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the residence of his mother, Mrs. Gideon Brainerd, and his aunt, Mrs. John M. Palmer, 417 East Cook street, and was largely attended by relatives and intimate friends of the deceased. The Rev. Edward Haughton, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church, read the burial service of the Episocpal church and the Rev. Thomas D. Logan, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, offered a prayer at the close of the service. The interment was in Oak Ridge cemetery, where the committal service of the Episcopal church was read at the grave by the Rev. George C. Dunlop, rector of Christ church.

James L. Brainerd, of California, Mrs. J. Brand Whitlock, wife of Mayor Whitlock of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. W. J. Cook of Chicago were in attendance at the funeral. Mayor Whitlock was unable to be present at his brother-in-law's funeral, as he had an engagement to deliver an address in the Rev. Dr. Cropsey's church, the People's church, in Rochester, N.
