Born to Anna Elsabea Fredericka Schwenneker & Peter Jacobs Peters who were both native to Germany. It is remembered that Anna spoke mostly German.
Caroline, known as Lena married William Aupperle June 6, 1886. They were neighbors living in Exira, IA.
Lena was mother to 10 children, only one died having been a twin and lived abt a month.
She was a very good cook and baker, making fresh bread and doughnuts every day...using 50#s of flour a week.
A typical Christmas was celebrated on Christmas Eve after church service, with a late meal of oyster stew and Jello with whipped cream and cake.
She was a jolly person & devoted to her husband and family. She lived 14 yrs after William's passing, living in Los Angeles vicinity with her also widowed sister Anna Peters Wunder. Several of her children & grandchildren lived nearby.
