Born in County Down, Ireland to Edward Henvey and Mary McGraw brothers Edward and Thomas Henvey came to America in the 1840's. Edward 171210273 made his life in Cayuga County, New York while Thomas went on to Hillsdale County, Michigan. Oral history is there were four Henvey brothers/cousins who came to America together but I've only confirmed these two. Their eldest brother John Henvey remained in Ireland.

Thomas died in 1858 survived by his wife Mary, their infant son John and their daughter Julia born to him posthumous.

Edward and wife Catherine had four children, John, Thomas, Edward & Sarah. Catherine died in NY, Edward remained in NY until his elder years when he went to live with his married daughter Sarah Henvey-Brosnahan in Crawford County, IA where he died and is buried in the Old Catholic Cemetery in 1908.
