Daughter of Edward and Permelia Anna (Standard) Young in Industry, Illinois. She first married Donald F. McCullough on January 4, 1941. She later married John C. Adair on May 21, 1949. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald (Linda) McCullough and Scott (Julie) Adair; two daughters, Marla Shinn and Patricia (Daniel) Cortelyou; nine grandchildren, Donald and Darrin (Sharon) McCullough, Kristen (Joe) George, Rene' (Daryl) Ford, Marc Cookson, John and David Shinn and Darrin and Derek Cortelyou; one step-granddaughter, Monica (Tim) Daniels; fourteen great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Virginia) Young and one sister-in-law, Mary Williams Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Cleone and Lyle and two sisters, Eileen Russell and Ila Price.

She attended Industry schools and was employed as a bookkeeper at Globe American Corporation, Ranney's Dress Shop of Macomb and the Victory Tax Division, State Auditor, Springfield. She was later employed as a Steno Secretary at WIU in the University Health Service, College of Education and Office of the President.
