Dirk Allart, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away July 10, 1998.
He was born in Rotterdam, Holland on May 17, 1920, the oldest of 11 children. He survived World War II. IN 1949 he immigrated here and married Truus Van Dornburg Van Leer February 2, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. He served many church callings including five stake missions, bishop, and high councilor. He and his wife served full time missions in Holland and Nevada. He retired form Crager Wire & Iron Works after 36 years."An Allart Never Gives Up," was his family motto. He was an exemplar to his motto. His life was full of service to others. He loved his native Holland and his adopted country, America, nature, and science. He created beautiful works of metal. He had a sense of humor and a reverence for all things Holy.
He is survived by his wife, Truus of Salt Lake; a brother, Jacobus "Jack" Allart of Florida; a sister, Nellie (Chris) Ruben of California; sisters, Martha De Blaay, Jacoba Allart and Jannetje De Bran of Holland; his children, Johanna (Keith) Widdison; Mary Jane (Sarkis) Emrazian; David (Jana) Allart; Lawrence (Nedra) Allart; and Richard (Susan) Allart and 14 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents; three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15th, 12 noon, at the LDS 19th Ward, 225 W. 500 North, SLC. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m. and Wedneday, 11 to 11:45 a.m both at the church. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
