Edward Nowitz, age 88 of Bridgeport, passed away Friday, November 7, 2008 at The Jewish Home for the Elderly. Mr. Nowitz was born in Bridgeport, son of the late Morris and Sadie Nowitz. He also was predeceased by his sister, Frances Nowitz Burger and his brother, Solomon Nowitz. He and his brother, Solomon, were partners in Nowitz Metal and Surplus Inc. Mr. Nowitz was a member of long standing in the International Ferrous / Non Ferrous Metals Association. He was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel and a sustaining member of the Bridgeport Jewish Community Center for many years. Mr. Nowitz is survived by his loving wife, Anne Goldman Nowitz of 62 years; his devoted children, Barbara and her husband, Rob Liberman and Gary Nowitz and his wife, Ulla Clausen; his grandchildren, Marcie and her husband, Greg Steinberg, Dayna and her husband, Arin Hayden, Melissa Nowitz and her husband, Jason Wasnewsky, Daniel Nowitz and Josefine Nowitz; and by his adoring great-grandchildren, Amanda and Jakob Steinberg, and Logan and Eli Hayden. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 9 at 10:30a.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Rd. Fairfield with internment following in Hebrew Sick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield or to The Bridgeport Jewish Community Center.
