Aged 11y 10m 5d; died from effects of a gunshot wound aggravated by the hot weather.

Died, at 7 o'clock Monday evening, July 22, 1901, at the home of his parents, East Cook street, Ira Ball, aged 11 years, 10 months and 5 days. The child's death was due to heat prostration. On Fourth of July the boy accidentally shot himself in one hip. A short time afterward he went in swimming and the wound became aggravated and resulted in blood poisoning. He was confined to his bed and was in a serious condition for several days. Gradually he improved and was nearly well until the last hot spell came. He suffered from the heat and became weaker, and yesterday he died. The attending physician said his death was directly due to the heat.

The child is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Ball; six sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Phillips of Griggsville; Florence Ball of Harvey; Mary, Mabel, Daisy and Maud, all living at home; and five brothers, Albert Ball of Lincoln, Thomas, Theodore, John and Frank Ball, all of this city.
