Aged 79y. He was with the Springfield Federation of Labor, and was president at one time. He was the city sidewalk inspector for five years. Business manager for the local carpenters' union for many years. Instrumental in the settlement of the street railway strike in 1917.

Father of Theodore Edwin Ball, proprietor of the T. E. Ball Produce company. Survived by sons T. E. and Charles Albert; daughters Mrs. Elizabeth Hunt, Miss Mary D. Ball, Mrs. Mabel Dreyer, Mrs. Daisy Spensley, Mrs. Maude Buchner, half-sister Miss Florence Ellege and a half-brother, Charles Ellege.
