Wednesday, Oct. 5, in a freak accident at
the Logan county road department yard in
Paris. He was reportedly working beneath
a dump truck when the bed accidentally
fell on him.
He was a former resident of Ozark.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene (Walker)
Whitman;two daughters, Mrs. Linda Trusty of
Paris and Miss Erma Whitman of Fort Smith;
four sons, Merle C. of Subiaco, Earl W.
of Ozark,David of Paris and Mike of
Fort Smith; three sisters,Mrs. Clara
Cole of Branch, Mrs. Ila Stephens of
Shamrock Tex., and Mrs. Hope
Metcalf of Magazine; three brothers,
Granville of Paris, Mearle of Ozark and
Early of Paris; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday at the
First Baptist church of Paris. Burial
was in Caulksville cemetery.
