Levonia was the daughter of Elder Samuel "Sam" McMillan and Sarah Elizabeth Caton who were originally from Cocke County, Tennessee and moved to the North Carolina area probably after some of their children had moved there.

She was the 3rd born child of 15 children. These were in order of birth: Walter "Conard", Stephen B., Levonia, Phoebe, Margret "Matilda", Laura, Cora (or Chora per a family bible), Louthenia, Hester, Belvia, Mary Elizabeth, James, David Columbus "Wade" E., William Thomas "Tom" McMillan and Minnie.

Levonia married Isaac Luther Caughron who was also from Newport, Cocke County, Tenn. They wed in Cocke County on 18 Jul 1909. They had 11 children together. Ten of their children lived to adulthood. These were 5 boys and 5 girls.

They were named in order of birth: William "Otey", Phillip Wesley "Willard", Ruby Reitzel, Nellie Matilda, Claude Haskel, Sarah "Allene", Mary "Juanita", Everett Luther, Jack Linville, Wanda Marie and Robert "Bobby" Thomas Walter Caughron.

She was a member of High Point Primitive Baptist Church in High Point, North Carolina.

She died at home after an extended illness, the last month of which was critical. Funeral services were conducted at High Point Primitive Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery with J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home directing. This cemetery is now called Mechanicsville Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
