Services for Genevieve Dyer will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Byron Beaubouef officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery under direction of Rush.
Dyer, 74, of Oakdale died Friday, May 4, 2001, in her residence.
She was a longtime resident of Oakdale where she was a member and Sunday school teacher of Trinity Baptist Church. She owned and operated Dyer's Grocery in Forest Hill for 20 years and was the first woman elected to the Town Council in Forest Hill. She worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for many years.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marlene Dyer Ray; one grandson and one granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Willard L. Dyer of Oakdale; two sons, Ronald W. Dyer and Michael E. Dyer, both of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Linda Brabham of Oakdale and Lorenda Blose of Princeton; her mother, Pearl Humphries Strange of Oakdale; three brothers, Billy Joe Humphries of LeBlanc, Donald Ray Humphries of Forest Hill and J.E. Strother Jr. of Gauthier, Miss.; four sisters, Mary Bell Dyer and Doris Mae Stermer, both of Oakdale, Bobbie Jean Priddy of Rolling Fork, Miss., and Patsy Ruth Tilley of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mike Brabham, Nick Brabham, Will Dyer, T-Ron Dyer, Kip Dyer and Kris Dyer.
Friends may call from 2-10 p.m. today and from 8-11 a.m. Sunday in the funeral home and from 12:30 p.m. until time of services Sunday in the church.
