obituary:
Dies at Oakland
Mrs. Mary Cater, age 61, widow of Charles Cater, was found dead at her home Tuesday morning by a neighbor, Mr. Brown.
Mrs. Cater had not been well for about two weeks but was up and dressed Sunday when friends called. Mr. Brown had been caring for the fires night and morning and on entering the house found Mrs. Cater near the telephone with the receiver down, dead. She probably was stricken before she could call for assistance.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ackerman, principal of McKinley School, Syracuse; Miss Bucklin of Syracuse; and Mrs. Chappell of Cayuga; a step-son, Ed. Cater, of Rochester.
Funeral services were held Thursday at her late home.
