He was born April 5, 1861 in Xenia OH, s/o J. C. and Alice Gregory. He came to Monticello when a boy and has lived here ever since. He was united in marriage on October 18, 1890 to Kate Eshelman of Monticello; she died September 6, 1933. He leaves two sons: John Wendell Gregory (1890-1962) and Arnold; and one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Carrow, all of Monticello; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One grandson, Dean Carrow, is serving in foreign service and another grandson, John Wendall Gregory, Jr. (1914-1979) recently returned from foreign service.
For many years he operated a junk business and when his health failed he sold out and retired from business.
