He was ordained a Methodist Minister in 1859 and had charges in many Central NY churches, retiring in 1908. He was Chaplin of the Onondaga County Home 1887-1891. He has also been to California (1849-50) and Idaho (early 1860's). His father and four of his brothers were also Ministers.
He enlisted 25 Nov 1861 at LaFayette, Onondaga County, NY as a Private in the Union Army in Company I, 12th NY Infantry. He was mustered out 16 May 1862 with a disability.
