GROVETOWN, Ga. - Charles Singletary, Jr., 74, entered into rest on Friday, November 2, 2007. A funeral service will be held today, Monday, November 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Platt's Funeral Home, Belair Rd. Chapel with Rev. Bob Hoeller officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Charles was born and raised in Whigham, Ga. He spent twenty years in the United States Army. While serving his country, he did two tours in Vietnam. Charles also owned and operated Singletary Cabinet Shop. He was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church and the Grovetown Masonic Lodge. Charles will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and Pa-Pa. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Singletary of Grovetown; two sons, Rodney Singletary and wife Joanne of Harlem, Charles A. Singletary and wife Kristal of Harlem; two daughters, Doris McQuinn and husband Bob of Grovetown, Joyce Williams of Grovetown; his father, Charles Singletary, Sr.; two brothers, Lavaughn Singletary and wife Lena of Grovetown, David Singletary and wife Doris of Whigham, Ga.; one sister, Bobbie Johnson of Whigham, Ga.; six grandchildren, Amy Welch and husband Wayne, BJ McQuinn, Michael Williams, Janet Smith and husband Scott, Kelly Nile and husband Dave, Margie Anderson; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Gray, Morgan Gray, Myranda Nile, Julia Anderson, and Chrislyn Nile. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, the late Doris Loretta Singletary; and his brother, the late Edward Singletary Sr. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1899 Central Ave., Augusta, Ga. 30904.
