"We regret to announce the death of an old and respected resident of Westport, Mrs Beckett, who died at Davitt's Terrace on Saturday last 2nd April. She had attained the fine old age of 85 years and for the greater part of her life she and her late respected husband had a business on the Fair Green, Westport.
She was a native of Westport district and was always an exemplary wife and mother.
Her funeral on Monday from Westport Parish Church was largely attended.
Cheif Mourners were - Matthew Beckett, (son): Mrs Beckett, (daugher in law), Matthew and John Tom (Grandsons), Mrs Blaney, Mrs Patrick Malone, Mrs John O Malley, Paddy, Frank and Alfie Blaney, Sarah Geraty, Buckwaria (Cousins).
The last prayes at the grave were said by Rev. Father Mc Hugh, C.C., Aughagower. R.I.P."
