On Friday, February 7, 1902, at the family home just north of town, occurred the death of Frank J. Alder.
For thirteen long weeks he had suffered patiently, uncomplainingly, while the relentless coils of that dread disease, consumption, were closing in on him. Through his long illness he faced his fate fearlessly and unflinchingly, doing acts of kindness and giving words of cheer to those around him. May peace be his.
Frank J. Alder was born in Eddyville, Iowa, October 26, 1883. His entire youth and manhood was spent in our midst. To those who knew him from his earliest years, it is needless to state, he was a kind friend, a pleasant companion, a loving and dutiful son.
He leaves behind him, father, mother and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Goins, to whom the sympathy of the community is extended in this hour of deep bereavement. The funeral took place from the Baptist church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Bush officiating.
