John Hitchcock, a 77-year-old retired farmer from Lucasville, Ohio died December 29 in a Portsmouth, Ohio, hospital. He was born in Johnson County to the late George and Elizabeth Blanton Hitchcock and was married to Mollie Colvin Hitchcock, who survives him. Other survivors include a son in Lucasville, Donald Hitchcock; three daughters, Pauline Bayes of Lucasville, Thelma Cantrell of Beaver, Ohio, and Roberta Crech of Stockdale, Ohio; two brothers, Estill Hitchcock of Oil Springs and Willie Hitchcock of Beaver, Ohio, and two sisters, Mattie Colvin of Beaver and Hattie McKenzie of Waverly, Ohio. Services were held December 31 in the chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with Elders Lonza Reed, Arnold Reed and Basil Blair officiating, Burial followed in the Blanton Branch Cemetery, under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Note that although Johnie's obituary states he was buried at Blanton Branch, he is not. I've been to his & Mollie's grave at Salisbury Cemetery, Pike Co. OH.
