Joshua was the son (likely the oldest) of William Jr. and Elizabeth (Hinds) Campbell. He married Anna Andrews 06 September 1815 in South Hero, Grand Isle Co., Vermont and then followed his parents and siblings to Niagara Co., New York. He and Anna had several children before her death in 1848. His second wife, Seraphina Cutler gave him a daughter before her death in 1865. Joshua's third wife, Currence out lived him.
