Abstract--ag 74 of Beckley, WV died Aug. 12, 1971 at the Veterans Hospital in Beckley. Burial was in the Shay's Chapel Cemetery. He was born July 11, 1897 at Newburg, WV, s/o the late J.S.C. and Harriet Shay Bell. He was a teacher at Newburg High School, in Newburg, He was the professor of political science at the University of Kansas. He was the cheif probation and parole officer for the city of Baltimore, Md. He was a Cpl in WW I with the WV Co E 113 Ammo Train. He had been residing with his nephew and neice, Mr. and Mrs. C. Curry Pyles at the time of death. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Amy Murphy of Morgantown; one step-sister, Mrs. Martha McMillion of Beckley.
