Birdsboro, April 19 (Special) - Matilda (Carson) Widow of Samuel Fair, died last evening at the home of her son-in-law Dr. L.R. Hengst, Spruce Street, which had been her home since the death of her husband three years ago. She had not been seriously ill any length of time, but succumbed to the infirmities of old age. Had she lived a few days longer deceased would have been 78 years old. She was born in Chester County, a daughter of Azariah and Caroline (Church) Carson. As a girl she moved with her parents to Union Township, near Monocacy, and after her marriage moved to Birdsboro, where she has resided since. All her life she was connected with the Methodist denomination and was a communicant of the Alice Focht Memorial Methodist of this place. She was one of the first members of the Ladies' Aid of this parish and was interested in its work and was one of its most devoted members. There survive three children, Laura, wife of John Lykens, Reading; Ella, wife of Dr. L. R. Hengst, dentist of town, Emma, wife of George Neagley, Harrisburg; also two brothers, Levi, Birdsboro; Alexander, Philadelphia; one sister Jane, widow of Samuel Westly, Norristown.
