Mr. Allessio was the former owner of the Gratiot-7 Lounge in Detroit. A former resident of Clarksburg, he was a decorated World War II veteran who fought in battles in the European Theater.
He married Marie Johnson.
He was a life member of VFW Post 393, a past member of Knights of Columbus Bishop Murray Council, and a member of St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, taking long rides, watching football games, playing euchre, holidays, giving his grandchildren dollar bills, and especially spending time with his family.
Mr. Allessio is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Rosemarie (Thomas) Benigni, Christina (Michael) Hiegel, Kathleen (Dr. Martin) Wedgle, Marianne (Albert) Ballor, and John (Peggy) Allessi; grandchildren, Todd, Scott, Bradley Benigni, Jamie (Hiegel) Biotti, Mark Hiegel, Lindsay, Alexandra Brdak, Anthony Ballor, Katie and Amanda Allessio; five step-grandchildren; and siblings, Joseph Allessio, Anna Pishner, and Clara Allessio.
He also was looking forward to the upcoming birth of a grandchild on the way.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Rosa (Spadafora) Allessio; one brother; and four sisters.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at St. Martin De Porres, 31555 Hoover, Warren. For time of service, call (586) 293-8030. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr (at Masonic), Warren. Additional visitation is prior to Wednesday's Mass at the church.
Memorial contributions may be addressed to Veterans Fund or Beaumont Hospice.
