Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Dyess Lewis will be held at 2:00 p.m Saturday, December 6, 2008 at New Hope Baptist Church, Calcasieu, with Reverend Jay Coleman officiating. Interment will be at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Calcasieu, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mrs. Lewis, age 85, of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at The Oaks Care Center in Pineville, Louisiana. She was a lifetime member of New Hope Baptist Church, Calcasieu, Louisiana. She was a homemaker. She loved quilting, cooking and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her husband John W. Lewis, Sr.; parents, James and Rachel Dyess; one daughter, Carol Lewis.
She is survived by one son, John W. Lewis, Jr. of Hineston; two daughters, Judy L. McLemore and husband Jack of New Prospect, Linda Kirkwood and husband James of Otis; two step-daughters, Shirley Bryer of Riverside, Pa. and Ann Walters of Danville, Pa.; one brother, Edward Dyess of Calcasieu; one sister, Ella Townley of Calcasieu; four grandchildren; many step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren and loved them all.
Friends may call at New Hope Baptist Church, Calcasieu, on Friday, December 5, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.at the church.
Pallbearers will be Jack McLemore, Jim Kirkwood, Mathew Robinson, Mark Lewis, Bill Robinson and Carroll Dyess.
