Jim (J. R.) Allen former resident of Grand Junction passed away at his home. He was 53.
He was born to Arnold R and June Schlosser Allen on November 21,1942 at Silt,Colorado. He spent his childhood in the Silt and Rifle area and graduated from Silt Union High School in 1960. He attended Mesa Collage and became a surveyor. In later years he went back to Mesa Collage and was Proctor for the Colorado Land Survey exam and served as instructor for refresher course for the Land Survey and LSIT exams.
J. R.'s twenty eight years in the surveying profession includes extensive experience in government corner retracement and restoration,topographic and construction surveys,street and boundary monumentation and aerial photo ground control surveys. He was a registered Professional Surveyor in 7 western states and had worked for Foster Engineering for the last 7 years in and around Reno, Nv.
J. R. married Maggie Lewis on Feb. 10,1989. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother and step-father June and Arshel Terry of Clifton;two step-sons, Neal and Charlene Gardner of Pampa,Texas; Andy and Melia Gardner of Austin,Texas; one brother and sister-in-law Roy and Roberta Allen of Fort Collins; two sisters and brother-inlaw Ginny and George Bagley of Silt, Vikki Christiansen and her fiance Tom Wright of Albuquerque,New Mex.;9 nieces and nephews,3 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews.
His father is deceased.
