Rad (Merle Boyer, 78, died Tuesday, April 25, 1989, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.

He was born January 29,1911, at Roswell, SD, to Rad Coover and Rilda Mae (Hutson) Boyer, June 1, 1935, he married Virginia Isabel Davidson at Shellsburg.

In addition to being a farmer, Mr. Boyer was a Standard Oil agent for 10 years and operated the Standard Gas station in Shellsburg for several years. Before retiring. He operated the Clover Farm Grocery Store in Shellsburg for 15 years.

He was a former member of the Shellsburg Volunteer Fire Dept., a member of Benton City Masonic Lodge # 81 AF & AM in shellsburg and the Odd Fellows.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Boyer, Shellsburg, three brothers Guy and his wife, Vivian, of Melbourne. Fl., Wayne and his wife, Gladys, and Dean and his wife, Doris; his sister, Mrs. Ione Wilt; sister-in-law. Virginia Boyer, all of Shellsburg, several nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray Boyer, and one sister, Arlene Boyer Fish.

Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg.
