He was the son of John Jacob Fleisher, Jr. and Catharine (nee Henninger) Fleisher.

He was a Civil War Veteran.

He was twice married - 1) Elizabeth Otto (1846-1875) and 2)
Louisa Mayer/Moyer (on 24 Feb 1876).

Obit in the Correctionville News, 1 September 1910, page 5: "William Fleisher who has been so ill for a number of weeks, died at his home here early Sunday morning. The funeral was held Tuesday from the Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. E.R. Mitchell of the United Evangelical Church. Deceased was 74 year old, a veteran who served throughout the civil war and one of the pioneers of this section. His wife died a year ago and they are buried side by side in the cemetery here. His daughter, Miss Priscilla, kept house for him. He leaves seven children, Clinton, Edward and Priscilla, of this community, and Louis of Minnesota, Mrs. (Clara) Tucker of Dubuque, Mrs. (Addie) Nichols of Nebraska and another daughter (Amanda)in Nebraska. All were at the funeral except the latter. Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Fleisher of Minnesota, a brother of the deceased, were here for the obsequies."
