The Correctionville News, 13 September 1934, page 1: Edward E. Flisher was born September 29, 1870, to William and Elizabeth Flisher on a farm near Aurora, Illinois. In 1881, at age 11 years, he moved to Black Hawk Co., Iowa, with his parents. Three years later, in 1884, he came to the Grand Meadow community where he has lived the remainder of his life. When but five years of age his mother died, leaving him in the care of his stepmother. In 1900 he married Ina Carver, and to this union were born five children - Edwina, Howard, Alma, Reuben and Robert. The latter two have preceded him in death. February 18, 1886, at age sixteen he joined the Morning Star Evangelical Church. He passed away September 5, 1934, following a short illness due to internal injuries acquired while attending his daily tasks. Besides his wife and three children he leaves to mourn one brother, Lew Flisher of Bingham Lake, Minnesota, two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Dye of Rosalie, Nebraska, and Mrs. Clara Tucker of Cascade, Iowa, one half-brother, Clinton Flisher of Pierson, two half-sisters, Mrs. Priscilla Gray of Colman, South Dakota, and Mrs. Addie Nichols of Madison, South Dakota, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Morning Star Evangelical Church with Rev. L.E. Olson officiating Burial was in Grand Meadow Cemetery.
