Born in Oberwinterthur, Zurich Canton.  Oberwinterthur is now a suburb of Winterthur.  This portion of the Erb family left Switzerland about the time that Zurich Canton became a part of the Swiss Federation.  They settled in Indiana and then some members moved further westward into Illinois.

Conrad married Elizabet Schellenbaum. Children were Jacob (married Mary), Cleophea who had a twin brother who died at birth, Martin (married Maria Theresa Trabold and lived in Chicago), Solomon, Margaret (married Huititich, Elizabeth (married Spies), Conrad Jr. (married Mary Foulterman) Mary (married Henry Doerr) and Anna (married Becker).

Arrived in USA in 1835 at the port of New Orlean, LA.
