Craig, Hazel M., 84, retired teacher, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2002 at her home in Mulvane. Visitation 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Senter-Smith Mortuary, Mulvane. Service 1 p.m. Saturday, Mulvane United Methodist Church.

She was born Jan. 22, 1918 at Newton, the daughter of the late Harry Otto and Myrtle Verena (McQuown) Molzen. A graduate of Bethel College and Kansas State University with an accumulated degree of Masters of Home Economics, she taught in Mulvane until 1969. She also taught a wide array of subjects in a one-room schoolhouse, and taught during her graduate study at K.S.U.

On Nov. 23, 1956, she married Leonard Younger Craig at Mulvane. He died July 27, 1968.

She was a member of the Mulvane United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the U.M.C. Women, past conference delegate for the Mulvane United Methodist Church, and helped found the Mother's Day Out program.

She was also actively involved in many other organizations including the BPW (Business and Professional Women), the Eastern Star, Newton Retired Teachers Association, and Walton Co-op. Past president of the Tree Board in Mulvane serving from 1990 to 2000, where she was the first woman in Kansas to receive the State Foresters Award. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling around the U.S. to visit her children.

She also managed the family farm and was a caregiver for the past 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Harry Earl Molzen. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Harry Dean and Colleen Craig of Portland, Ore., Larry Gene and Lisa Craig of Oviedo, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth Craig-Oatley and Jeff Oatley of Ormond Beach, Fla., Geraldine Kay Craig and Nelson Smith of Detroit; sister, Myrtle Lillian Buller of Duluth, Minn.; grandchildren, Aaron Linenberger, Parker Craig, Jake Oatley and Sam Oatley.
