Alfred Behrens Dies At 68 . Alfred C. Behrens Sr., owner of Rapid City's third oldest business the Behrens Furniture Store died early Wednesday in a local hospital. He was 68.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Behrens Mortuary.

Behrens was born in Rapid City. Nov. 6, 1894 and had lived here almost all his live. For the past several years he made his home at Black Hawk.

He attended Rapid City High School, Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. and the School of Mines.

Interrupting his collegiate career, he enlisted in the aviation branch of the U. S. Navy in 1917. He spent two years in service in France and Ireland.

In 1920 Behrens entered the family business -with his father, J. A. Behrens. The following year, after his father's death, he purchased the firm from the estate. Only Behrens Mortuary and the First National Bank are older in point of continuous service to the community.

Behrens served on the city commission from 1924 until 1927.

His wife preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son and two daughters; and several grandchildren.
