Fredericka Middlebach was born about March 14, 1820 in Saxony, Germany. She first married Bernhardt Vogler and had two daughters and a son. After his death, she supported her three young children, ages two to ten, by running a saloon on Brown Street. Around 1871, she married secondly to a Swedish immigrant, John Conrad Zellwiger. They remained on Brown Street and Fredericka must have continued running the saloon at least for a while. She was widowed a second time when "Conrad" died in 1886. It appears Fredericka remained on Brown Street until the time of her death at age 88 from ovarian cancer She is buried alongside both of her husbands.
