Ann McDowell Jones Moore was born in Raloo, County Antrim, Northern Ireland; she arrived in Charleston, South Carolina USA on 15 Nov 1820 aboard the ship Prince Leopold, with her father Hugh McDowell, her sister Mary Jane, and two brothers: John & Thomas.
Ann McDowell married John Downing Jones about 1836, probably in Chester County, South Carolina. About 1838, John D. & Ann moved with some of their kinfolk from Chester Co., SC to Carroll Co., Tennessee.
John D. & Ann had 5 sons: William D. (1837 SC- 1912 TN), Thomas E., (1839 TN-1895 MS), James (1842-1843 TN), John R. (1844-1876 TN), & J. Harvey (1847 -1924 TN).
John D. & Ann McDowell Jones were my 2nd great-grandparents.
