Phillip Gammon, son of Jackson and Evalline Gammon, was born on January 18,1847, in Tipton, Iowa. In early manhood he came with his parents to Martin county, the trip being made in covered wagons, the principal way of traveling in pioneer days. The family remained here for a short while, then went west again but later returned to Martin county where Phillip has since made his home. He was a member of the United Brothern church, was oa cheerful disposition and had a winning personality, especially among children. He leaves to mourn his departure one sister, Sarah E. Gibbs, of Washington, and two brothers,Henry and Everett, of Shoals. The aged parents, two sisters and one brother having preceeded him in death. He passed away April 7, 1926, aged seventy-nine years two months and seventeen days.

Four sons, Harry, Hile, Thomas and Charles and three daughters, Lucresin, Martha and Luch. Lucresia died in infancy. They also leave to mourn their loss nineteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Eleven grandchildren have gone to await them. Both deaths were caused by influenza. Everything that loving hands could do was done to relieve them of their suffering but the cold had of death could not be stayed. Father aand mother were devoted parents and will be sadly missed by the faily and community.
Funeral services were held at Fairview Friday afternoon and the aged couple were tenderly laid to rest in Simmons cemetery. We have lost our darling parents,
They have bid us all "Adieu," They have gone to live in heaven and their forms are lost to view
