Kate Palen Knight
Early in the morning of the 30th at the home of her son-in-law, Charles H. Stuart, North Main St. occurred suddenly the death of Mrs. Kate Palen Knight widow of A. Lyman Knight of New York, aged 68 years. Mrs. Knight had been a resident of Newark for many years, and her activities will be greatly missed, especially by her many friends and in the societies in which she took active interest. She had been unusually well this winter and her sudden death came as a great shock to her family. The afternoon before her death she spent at Red Cross House and the evening before had been in the best of spirits. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and had endeared her well to many friends in Newark by her perfect unselfishness and constant thought for the comfort and happiness of others. She was a lady of unusual sweetness of manner and her cheerfulness and thoughtfulness won her friends among all with who she mingled. She leaves three daughters; Mrs. Stuart of the village, Mrs. Garrison of Orange, N.J., and Mrs. Schenck of Milton, Ct., besides a brother and a sister both of New York. Funeral Services were held at 52 North Main St. at four o'clock Friday afternoon and the interment will be at the family burial place in Sleep Hollow Cemetery, Tarrytown, N.Y.
