Services for Late Mrs. Flahiff will be Held In St. Ann's Church
The funeral of Mrs. Bridget Flahiff, 82, well know pioneer who died Sunday night will be held Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock in the St. Ann's church, Rev. J. S. Elder officiating. Mrs. Flahiff, for many years had been a faithful member of St. Ann's parish and was also an active member of the Altar Society and the League of the Sacred Heart. The remains will be interred in Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Flahiff, the widow of the late Edward Flahiff, passed away at 8:30 o'clock Sunday evening at the home of her son, Daniel Flahiff, in Sandusky township from complications. Eight years ago she fell and broke her hip and from the injury never entirely recoved. Her death was hastened by a slight stroke sustained last Thursday while on a visit at her son's home. Owing to her advanced age, a general breakdown resulted and death soon followed. Mrs. Flahiff has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Edward Reineck of Rawson avenue and it was owing to Mrs. Reineck's absence from the city, attending the national L.C.B.A. convention, that the mother was making her visit to the son's home. Mrs. Reineck was called from Atlantic City on account of her mother's death and arrived in the city Monday evening. The remains were removed to the Reineck home. Mrs. Flahiff's maiden name was Bridget O'Connell, and she was born in County Kerry, Ireland, July 15, 1839, and came to the country with her sister when a girl of 18 years, residing in Toledo until after her marriage 51 years ago, February 19, 1870 to Edward Flahiff, who died 21 years ago. They moved to Greenspring and later resided on a farm in Ballville township. Twenty-two years ago they moved to Fremont and Mrs. Flahiff had lived here ever since, making her home for the past 8 years with her daughter. She was the mother of six children, two of whom are living, Mrs. Reineck and Daniel Flahiff. Three stepdaughters also survive, Mrs. P. H. Dore and Mrs. J. T. Quilter, both of Toledo, and Miss Ella Flahiff of Cleveland. Miss Bessie Flahiff of Toledo, an adopted daughter, also survives. There are also 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The late Mrs. Flahiff was one of the beloved pioneers of this section and a woman with many friends. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and a good friend and neighbor.
