Laynilda "Nellie" A. Ehlenbeck, 86, of New Holstein, died Monday Dec. 29, 2008, at the Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein.

She was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Marytown, a daughter of the late Norbert and Olive (Karls) Schmitz.

On June 21, 1944, she married Norbert H. Ehlenbeck in Marytown. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2002. Nellie worked at Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein until her retirement. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Christian Women's Society and was a member of the Catholic Knights.

Survivors include her four children, Phyllis (Charles) Schneider of New Holstein, Lester Ehlenbeck of New Holstein, David (Deborah) Ehlenbeck of New Holstein and James (Judy) Ehlenbeck of New Holstein; her grandchildren, Melissa Schneider, Lori Hess, Corey Schneider, Carrie Schneider, Kara, Kelly, Tim, Jennifer, Mike, Justin, Jerad and Jami Ehlenbeck; six great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, Norbert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m. on Friday Jan. 2, 2009, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. The Rev. Harold Berryman, Pastor, will officiate. Entombment will be at the Knollwood Mausoleum in rural Manitowoc.

Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave., New Holstein, on Friday Jan. 2, 2009, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home.
